Hello!
Welcome to my blog! I’m just getting started and have never been one for writing. No journals, no letters, even thank you notes are hard for me. Back in the school days I preferred technical research papers, but even those hurt. However, I like reading and figure I can apply some Salman Rushdie colors to my posts. Maybe not.
I’ve been making things my whole life. Building forts was a favorite activity and when playing Barbies with my sisters, I preferred making clothes and houses for them. I studied art at the University of Oregon and found metals to be the best thing ever. Fibers also made me happy. I like the slow planning involved in both. I moved to Austin in ’99 and got a regular job right away. I continued to craft things in my spare time and tried to just keep active in metalsmithing. I even had a set-up in my bedroom on several occasions.
In January ’09, I quit my job and have been building my business ever since. I live in a nice house with an office/work room and use the garage for fire work and upholstery. It’s mostly hard, but it’s also a lot better than doing something I don’t like. I’m a nicer person now. And happier.
I currently focus on metals but spend some time upholstering and sewing, too. I’m working toward getting my earrings into more stores in Austin and participating in various craft shows throughout the year. I sell online, but who doesn’t? I intend this blog to be a place for you to get to know me and keep up with where I am and what I’m up to next.
